Sita urges Lakshmana to seek Rama
The crisis of the ‘distressed voice’
When he for whose service you have primary come here, has met with difficulty, what is the use of your being here? What purpose you serve by staying here with me ?
It models maryādā and dharma through respectful conduct even in turmoil: Lakṣmaṇa departs with reverence, balancing obedience and courtesy.
After consoling Sītā, Lakṣmaṇa finally goes toward Rāma, repeatedly looking back out of concern for Sītā.
Lakṣmaṇa’s self-mastery and respectful humility (vinaya) are emphasized.
