Omens before Khara’s Assault
महोत्पातानिमान्सर्वानुत्थितान्घोरदर्शनान्।।।।न चिन्तयाम्यहं वीर्याद्बलवान्दुर्बलानिव।
mahōtpātān imān sarvān utthitān ghōradarśanān | na cintayāmy ahaṃ vīryād balavān durbalān iva ||
No me inquietan estos presagios, por terribles que sean a la vista, pues confío en mi propio valor; como el fuerte que no hace caso del débil.
The swift horses yoked to the chariot stumbled casually while galloping on the plane highway sprinkled with flowers.
Dharma warns against mada (pride): relying on brute strength while dismissing moral and cosmic order leads to downfall.
Khara rallies his forces by dismissing ominous signs as irrelevant to someone powerful like himself.
True strength includes humility and foresight; Khara’s “strength” is shown as arrogance.
