Origin of Jaleśvara Tīrtha and the Devas’ Appeal to Śiva against Bāṇa/Tripura

Nārada’s Mission

अत्राकृष्टमनास्तास्तु अन्यत्रगतमानसाः । पुरि छिद्रं समुत्पन्नं बाणस्य तु महात्मनः

atrākṛṣṭamanāstāstu anyatragatamānasāḥ | puri chidraṃ samutpannaṃ bāṇasya tu mahātmanaḥ

FAQs

Bāṇa is named here as the figure associated with the city in which a breach (chidra) arises; identification beyond this line depends on the surrounding verses of Svargakhaṇḍa 14.

It implies mental distraction—being physically present or drawn toward something “here,” yet inwardly preoccupied elsewhere.

It signals a sudden vulnerability or rupture in the city’s condition—often a turning point indicating danger, entry, or an impending event in the episode.
