वत्सं भारेण कुर्वीत भाराभ्यां मध्यमा स्मृता । अर्द्धभारेण वत्सस्स्यात्कनिष्ठा भारकेण तु

vatsaṃ bhāreṇa kurvīta bhārābhyāṃ madhyamā smṛtā | arddhabhāreṇa vatsassyātkaniṣṭhā bhārakeṇa tu

El ternero debe hacerse con el peso de un bhāra; con dos bhāras se conoce como madhyamā (mediana). Con medio bhāra se vuelve vatsa; y la más pequeña (kaniṣṭhā) es con un bhāraka.
