The verse offers salutations to Bhagavān (the Blessed Lord), to Vedavyāsa (compiler of the Purāṇas), to the primeval Puruṣa (Supreme Person), and acknowledges Bhṛgu as an authoritative sage whose teachings are followed.

Vedhas (वेधस्) commonly means the Ordainer or Creator. In this verse it functions as an epithet of revered creative authority; it is paired with Vedavyāsa, indicating exalted status and the role of establishing sacred knowledge.

By saluting Vedavyāsa and referencing Bhṛgu’s utterances, the verse frames the text as part of a trusted lineage (paramparā) of sages, emphasizing continuity, authority, and faithful preservation of received teachings.
