Kāmodākhyāna
Glory of the Kāmodā Sacred Place
Narada (teaching within a tirtha-mahatmya narration, as preserved in the Narada Purana)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It states that sustained tapas expressed as long-term residence at a sacred place and unwavering japa culminates in sākṣāt-darśana—direct experiential encounter with the presiding deity (Kāmodā).
Bhakti is shown as steady, time-tested commitment: remaining in the holy kṣetra and making japa one’s primary refuge, leading from practice (sādhana) to divine audience (darśana).
The verse emphasizes mantra-prayoga through japa (linked to Śikṣā for correct recitation and Vyākaraṇa for preserving mantra form), applied as a disciplined ritual practice rather than a theoretical teaching.
