Adhyaya 49Primordial Human Creation, the Rise of Desire, and the Origins of Settlements, Measures, and Agriculture

उद्रिक्तास्तमसा सर्वे निःश्रीका ह्यल्पचेतसः ।

ततः संहर्षमाणास्ते द्वन्द्वोत्पन्नास्तु प्राणिनः ॥

udriktās tamasā sarve niḥśrīkā hy alpacetasaḥ |

tataḥ saṃharṣamāṇās te dvandvotpannās tu prāṇinaḥ ||

Todos quedaron sobrecogidos por la oscuridad (tamas), sin esplendor y de escaso entendimiento. Entonces, agitados por la excitación, los seres vivientes surgieron en pares (como dualidades).
