Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
तथा शीतघ्रास्त्रयुद्धे तु वर्तमाने सुदारुणे । शीघ्र शीघ्रतरं पार्थ: शरानन्यानुदीरयत्
tathā śītaghrāstrayuddhe tu vartamāne sudāruṇe | śīghraṁ śīghrataraṁ pārthaḥ śarān anyān udīrayat |
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Mientras arreciaba aquella batalla sobremanera terrible, hecha de veloces choques de armas, Pārtha (Arjuna), hijo de Kuntī, comenzó a disparar flechas una tras otra—cada vez más rápido, y más rápido aún.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
In the midst of terrifying conflict, the ideal warrior does not collapse into panic; he responds with steadiness, trained skill, and purposeful action. The verse highlights disciplined mastery—speed guided by control—rather than reckless fury.
As the fierce exchange of weapons intensifies, Arjuna increases the tempo of his archery, releasing successive arrows with ever-greater speed, signaling a decisive turn in the combat.
