सर्वे कालस्य वेत्तार: कृच्छरूपधरा: स्थिता: । प्रविशेयुर्जितक्रोधास्तावदेव पुनर्वनम्
sarve kālasya vettāraḥ kṛcchrarūpadharāḥ sthitāḥ | praviśeyur jitakrodhās tāvad eva punar vanam ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: «Todos conocen el límite fijo del tiempo. Por eso deben de estar ocultos, habiendo asumido un disfraz difícil de reconocer. Así pues, debéis esforzaros con presteza en descubrirlos, para que—refrenando su ira—vuelvan al bosque por el tiempo que resta, es decir, por doce años. Solo entonces mi reino permanecerá seguro por largo tiempo, sin zozobra y sin espinas (esto es, sin amenaza ni aflicción).»
