Lomaśa’s Counsel and the Resolve for Pilgrimage

Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not add new instruction but signals that pilgrimage (tīrtha-yātrā) is treated as a dharmic discipline: honoring sacred places and inherited narratives as means of moral orientation, purification, and continuity of tradition.

The text is closing Adhyāya 90 of the Vana Parva’s Tīrtha-yātrā Parva, identifying the chapter’s topic as Dhaumya’s pilgrimage account and formally marking the end of that chapter in the Gītā Press-style colophon tradition.
