Pilgrimage and ritual bathing at renowned tīrthas are presented as disciplines of purification: by approaching sacred places with right intent, one sheds moral impurity (pāpa) and regains inner radiance, symbolized by shining like the moon.
Pulastya continues a tīrtha-yātrā instruction, directing the listener to go next to the Vaitaraṇī and then to the Viraja tīrtha; bathing there is said to free one from sins and make one radiant.
