Dhaumya’s Enumeration of Eastern Tīrthas
Prācī-diś Tīrtha-kathana
The verse teaches that disciplined pilgrimage and sincere ritual acts (like tarpaṇa) can confer great merit comparable to major charitable gifts, emphasizing accessible dharmic practice, reverence, and inner intention.
Pulastya continues describing a tīrtha-yātrā sequence: the pilgrim goes to Campā, performs tarpaṇa in the Bhāgīrathī, and by visiting the Daṇḍa-tīrtha gains the merit said to equal donating a thousand cows.
