Nala’s Victory over Puṣkara in the Dice-Game
जनस्य सम्प्रहृष्टस्य नलं दृष्टवा तथा55गतम् । राजा नलने उस पूजाको विधिपूर्वक स्वीकार करके अपनी ओरसे भी श्वशुरका सेवा- सत्कार किया। तदनन्तर विदर्भनगरमें राजा नलको इस प्रकार आया देख हर्षोल्लासमें भरी हुई जनताका महान् आनन्दजनित कोलाहल होने लगा
janasya samprahṛṣṭasya nalaṃ dṛṣṭvā tathāgatam |
Cuando el pueblo, colmado de júbilo, vio llegar así al rey Nala, se alzó en la ciudad de Vidarbha un gran clamor nacido de la alegría. Habiendo aceptado debidamente el honor que se le rendía, Nala, por su parte, prestó a su suegro el servicio y la hospitalidad respetuosa que correspondían—mostrando el dharma de la honra recíproca y del deber familiar en la conducta regia.
बृहृदश्च उवाच
The passage highlights dharma expressed as reciprocal honor: when one receives proper respect, one should respond with service and hospitality—especially within family relations such as toward a father-in-law—thereby sustaining social and royal propriety.
Nala arrives at Vidarbha; the citizens rejoice loudly on seeing him. He accepts the ceremonial reception and then himself honors and serves his father-in-law with due respect, reflecting the etiquette expected of a righteous king.
