Unmastered attachment turns separation into a consuming inner fire; without steadiness and discernment, grief produces restless wandering rather than constructive action.
Bṛhadaśva describes a man who, after being separated from his wife, is overwhelmed by sorrow—burning with grief day and night and roaming about in misery.
