द्रोणकर्णो प्रतीयातां यदि भीष्मो5पि वा रणे | महान् स्यात् संशयो लोके तत्र पश्यामि नो जयम्,द्रोण और कर्ण उस अर्जुनका सामना कर सकते हैं। भीष्म भी युद्धमें उनसे लोहा ले सकते हैं; परंतु तो भी मेरे मनमें महान् संशय ही बना हुआ है। मुझे इस लोकमें अपने पक्षकी जीत नहीं दिखायी देती
d्रोṇakarṇau pratīyātāṃ yadi bhīṣmo 'pi vā raṇe | mahān syāt saṃśayo loke tatra paśyāmi no jayam ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Aunque Droṇa y Karṇa lo enfrentaran, y aunque Bhīṣma también entrara en combate, una gran duda seguiría pesando sobre el mundo. En tal situación no veo la victoria para nuestro bando.»
