धृतराष्ट्र–संजय संवादः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Sañjaya on Arjuna’s Indraloka report and the political consequences
देवराज इन्द्रके इस मनोरम निवासस्थानमें तुम्हारे शुभागमनके उपलक्ष्यमें एक महान् उत्सव मनाया गया। यह उत्सव स्वर्गलोकका सबसे बड़ा उत्सव था। उसमें रुद्र, आदित्य, अश्विनीकुमार और वसुगण--इन सबका सब ओरसे समागम हुआ था। नरश्रेष्ठ! महर्षिसमुदाय, राजर्षिप्रवर, सिद्ध, चारण, यक्ष तथा बड़े-बड़े नाग--ये सभी अपने पद, सम्मान और प्रभावके अनुसार योग्य आसनोंपर बैठे थे। इन सबके शरीर अग्नि, चन्द्रमा और सूर्यके समान तेजस्वी थे और ये समस्त देवता अपनी अद्भुत समृद्धिसे प्रकाशित हो रहे थे। विशाल नेत्रोंवाले इन्द्रकुमार! उस समय गन्धर्वोद्वारा अनेक वीणाएँ बजायी जा रही थीं। दिव्य मनोरम संगीत छिड़ा हुआ था और सभी प्रमुख अप्सराएँ नृत्य कर रही थीं। कुरुकुलनन्दन पार्थ! उस समय तुम मेरी ओर निर्निमेष नयनोंसे निहार रहे थे || २३-- २८ || तत्र चावभृथे तस्मिन्नुपस्थाने दिवौकसाम् । तव पित्राभ्यनुज्ञाता गता:ः स्वं स्व गृहं सुरा:
tatra cāvabhṛthe tasminn upasthāne divaukasām | tava pitrābhyanujñātā gatāḥ svaṃ sva gṛhaṃ surāḥ ||
En aquella morada deleitosa, Indra, rey de los dioses, celebró una gran festividad con motivo de tu dichosa llegada. Era la mayor de las fiestas del cielo. Allí se congregaron por todos los rumbos Rudra, los Āditya, los gemelos Aśvin y las huestes de los Vasu. ¡Oh el mejor de los hombres! La asamblea de los grandes ṛṣis, los más eminentes rājārṣis, los Siddhas, los Cāraṇas, los Yakṣas y los grandes Nāgas—todos se sentaron en asientos dignos según su rango, honor e influencia. Sus cuerpos resplandecían como el fuego, la luna y el sol, y todos aquellos dioses brillaban iluminados por una prosperidad maravillosa. ¡Oh hijo de Indra, de grandes ojos! Entonces los Gandharvas hacían sonar muchas vīṇās; se alzó una música divina y encantadora, y todas las Apsaras principales danzaban. ¡Oh Pārtha, alegría del linaje Kuru! En aquel momento tú me contemplabas con ojos sin parpadeo. Luego, en el rito conclusivo de aquella festividad, en la augusta asamblea de los moradores del cielo, los dioses, tras recibir el permiso de tu padre (Indra), partieron, cada cual hacia su propia morada.
