The verse stresses that worldly aims and familial duties depend upon being alive; therefore preserving life is a foundational ethical priority, since parents, children, and relatives can fulfill their responsibilities only through the living.
Sūrya addresses a hero respectfully (“puruṣarṣabha”) and offers counsel framed as practical moral instruction: in the human world, family relations and obligations function through living persons, implying the importance of sustaining life to uphold dharma and social duties.
