पुरुषस्य परे लोके कीर्तिरेव परायणम् | इह लोके विशुद्धा च कीर्तिरायुर्विवर्द्धनी,परलोकमें कीर्ति ही पुरुषके लिये सबसे महान् आश्रय है। इस लोकमें भी विशुद्ध कीर्ति आयु बढ़ानेवाली होती है
puruṣasya pare loke kīrtir eva parāyaṇam | iha loke viśuddhā ca kīrtir āyur-vivarddhanī ||
Karna dijo: «Para un hombre, en el mundo de más allá, la fama sola es el refugio supremo. Y en este mundo también, el renombre sin mancha sostiene la vida y se dice que acrecienta la duración de los años».
