अध्याय ३० — क्रोधदोषाः क्षमाप्रशंसा च

Defects of Anger and the Praise of Forbearance

भुज्जते रुक्मपात्रीभियरयत्राहं परिचारिका | आरण्यकेभ्यो लौहानि भाजनानि प्रयच्छसि । नादेयं ब्राह्मणेभ्यस्ते गृहे किंचन विद्यते,पार्थ! आपने ब्राह्मणोंकी समस्त कामनाएँ पूरी करके सदा उन्हें तृप्त किया है। भारत! आपके यहाँ मोक्षाभिलाषी संन्यासी तथा गृहस्थ ब्राह्मण सोनेके पात्रोंमें भोजन करते थे। जहाँ स्वयं मैं अपने हाथों उनकी सेवा-टहल करती थी। वानप्रस्थोंको भी आप सोनेके पात्र दिया करते थे। आपके घरमें कोई ऐसी वस्तु नहीं थी, जो ब्राह्मणोंके लिये अदेय हो

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | bhujjate rukmapātrībhir yatrahaṁ paricārikā | āraṇyakebhyo lauhāni bhājanāni prayacchasi | nādeyaṁ brāhmaṇebhyas te gṛhe kiṁcana vidyate, pārtha |

Dijo Yudhiṣṭhira: «Oh Pārtha, en tu casa no había nada que pudiera negarse a los brāhmaṇas. Los ascetas que buscan la liberación y los brāhmaṇas cabezas de familia comían en vasijas de oro, y yo misma los atendía con mis propias manos. Incluso a los ermitaños que moran en el bosque les proveías utensilios de hierro. Así cumplías cada deseo de los brāhmaṇas y los mantenías siempre satisfechos.»
