Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)
तमभ्याशगतं वीरमड़॒दं रावणात्मज:
tam abhyāśagataṁ vīram ādadānaṁ rāvaṇātmajaḥ
Dijo Mārkaṇḍeya: Al ver que aquel héroe se acercaba ya a corta distancia, el hijo de Rāvaṇa se movió para apresarlo: señal de que el combate se estrechaba y de que el peligro se cernía con mayor fuerza.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights how proximity in conflict often triggers impulsive aggression; ethical strength lies in restraint and discernment, whereas pride-driven seizure invites further violence and consequences.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a battle moment: a heroic warrior comes close, and Rāvaṇa’s son attempts to seize him, indicating an immediate physical engagement and intensification of the fight.
