Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)
त॑ लक्ष्मणो5 भ्यधावच्च प्रगृह्म सशरं धनु: । त्रासयंस्तलघोषेण सिंह: क्षुद्रमूगान् यथा,तब लक्ष्मण भी धनुषपर बाण चढ़ाये हुए उसकी ओर बड़े वेगसे दौड़े और सिंह जैसे छोटे मृगोंको डरा देता है, उसी प्रकार वे अपने धनुषकी टंकारसे सब राक्षसोंको त्रास देने लगे
taṁ lakṣmaṇo 'bhyadhāvac ca pragṛhya saśaraṁ dhanuḥ | trāsayaṁs talaghoṣeṇa siṁhaḥ kṣudramṛgān yathā ||
Entonces Lakṣmaṇa se lanzó de frente hacia él, empuñando el arco ya provisto de flechas. Con el agudo chasquido de la cuerda infundió terror en los rākṣasas, como un león amedrenta a las bestias menores y tímidas.
