Sāvitrī’s Report and Nārada’s Prognosis (सावित्र्याख्यान—सत्यवान्-गुणवर्णनं तथा अल्पायुषः पूर्वसूचना)

अयश: पातसयित्वा मे मूर्थ्नि त्वं कुलपांसने । सकामा भव मे मातरित्युक्त्वा प्रसुरोद ह,भरत बड़े धर्मात्मा थे। वे माताकी बात सुनकर उससे बोले--“कुलकलंकिनी जननी! तूने धनके लोभमें पड़कर यह कितनी बड़ी क्रूरताका काम किया है? पतिकी हत्या की और इस कुलका विनाश कर डाला। "मेरे मस्तकपर कलंकका टीका लगाकर तू अपना मनोरथ पूर्ण कर ले।' ऐसा कहकर भरत फूट-फ़ूटकर रोने लगे

Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: Ayaśaḥ pātasayitvā me mūrdhni tvaṁ kulapāṁsane | sakāmā bhava me mātarity uktvā prasuroda ha ||

Dijo Mārkaṇḍeya: «¡Oh mancilladora del linaje! Ya has puesto sobre mi cabeza la marca de la deshonra; queda, pues, satisfecha, madre.» Dicho esto, Bharata rompió en llanto.
