देवदूत नमस्ते5स्तु गच्छ तात यथासुखम् | महादोषेण मे कार्य न स्वर्गेण सुखेन वा,“देवदूत! तुम्हें नमस्कार है। तात! तुम सुखपूर्वक पधारो। स्वर्ग अथवा वहाँका सुख महान् दोषसे युक्त है; इसलिये मुझे उसकी आवश्यकता नहीं है
devadūta namaste 'stu gaccha tāta yathāsukham | mahādoṣeṇa me kāryaṁ na svargeṇa sukhena vā ||
Dijo Vyāsa: «Oh mensajero divino, recibe mi salutación. Querido, sigue tu camino con sosiego. En cuanto a mí, el cielo —e incluso la dicha que allí se halla— está ligado a una grave falta moral; por eso no lo necesito».
व्यास उवाच
Heavenly reward is not inherently worth pursuing if it is morally compromised; dharma and ethical purity take precedence over pleasure, status, or posthumous enjoyment.
Vyāsa addresses a divine messenger respectfully but dismisses the offer/implication of going to heaven, stating that such heaven and its pleasures are connected with a serious fault and thus are not desirable for him.
