स सुहृच्छोकदो जात: शत्रूणां हर्षवर्धन: । वारणाह्नयमासाद्य कि वक्ष्यामि जनाधिपम्,परंतु आज मैं अपने सुहृदोंके लिये शोकदायक और शत्रुओंका हर्ष बढ़ानेवाला हो गया। हस्तिनापुर जाकर मैं राजासे क्या कहूँगा?
sa suhṛcchokado jātaḥ śatrūṇāṃ harṣavardhanaḥ | vāraṇāhṇayam āsādya kiṃ vakṣyāmi janādhipam |
«Pero hoy me he convertido en causa de dolor para mis propios bienhechores y en aumento de júbilo para mis enemigos. Al tener que volver a Hastināpura, ¿qué podré decirle al rey?»
दुर्योधन उवाच
