Vyāsa’s Consolation to Yudhiṣṭhira: Tapas, Kāla, and the Difficulty of Dāna (दान-तपस्-विवेकः)
न तद् गन्धर्वराजस्य युक्त कर्म जुगुप्सितम् । परदाराभिमर्श श्ष मानुषैश्व समागम:,“गन्धर्वो! परायी स्त्रियोंका अपहरण और मनुष्योंके साथ युद्ध-ये घृणित कर्म गन्धर्वराज चित्रसेनको शोभा नहीं देते हैं
na tad gandharvarājasya yukta-karma jugupsitam | paradārābhimarśaś ca mānuṣaiś ca samāgamaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Tal conducta no es propia del rey de los Gandharvas. Ultrajar la esposa de otro y trabar violento combate con los hombres: son actos reprobables y no convienen a Citraseṇa».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even powerful beings are bound by dharma: violating another’s spouse and engaging in unjust or dishonorable violence are condemned as unworthy of a noble ruler.
Vaiśampāyana censures the Gandharva king Citraseṇa, stating that abducting or violating another’s wife and fighting with humans are disgraceful acts that do not suit his royal status.
