Duryodhana’s Restraint by Citraseṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira’s Magnanimous Release
Dvaitavana
एतद् यशस्यं भगदैवतं च स्वार्थ्य तथा शत्रुनिबर्हणं च । महाहमाल्याभरणाड्रागा भर्तारमाराधय पुण्यगन्धा,तुम बहुमूल्य हार, आभूषण और अंगराग धारण करके पवित्र सुगन्धित वस्तुओंसे सुवासित हो अपने प्राणवल्लभ श्यामसुन्दर श्रीकृष्णकी आराधना करो। इससे तुम्हारे यश और सौभाग्यकी वृद्धि होगी। तुम्हारे मनोरथकी सिद्धि तथा शत्रुओंका नाश होगा
etad yaśasyaṃ bhagadaivataṃ ca svārthyaṃ tathā śatrunibarhaṇaṃ ca | mahāhamālyābharaṇāṅgarāgā bhartāram ārādhaya puṇyagandhā ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Este proceder trae fama y está en armonía con lo divino; también asegura los fines legítimos y destruye a los enemigos. Por ello, oh tú de fragancia auspiciosa, adornada con espléndidas guirnaldas, joyas preciosas y ungüentos perfumados, rinde culto y honra a tu amado señor. Con tal reverencia devota, crecerán tu renombre y tu fortuna; se cumplirán tus deseos y las fuerzas hostiles serán reducidas a ruina».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse teaches that reverent worship and honoring of one’s divine lord (and, in the domestic-ethical frame, one’s beloved protector) with purity and auspicious adornment leads to fame, prosperity, fulfillment of aims, and the overcoming of hostile forces—linking devotion with ethical well-being and social stability.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, reports an instruction praising a particular devotional course: the addressed person is urged to approach and worship the beloved lord with garlands, ornaments, and fragrant unguents, emphasizing that such conduct yields renown, good fortune, success of intentions, and the subduing of enemies.
