पतता तेन गिरिणा देवसैन्यस्य पार्थिव । भीमरूपेण निहतमयुतं प्रापतद् भुवि,परंतु महिषासुरने देवताओंका पीछा करके उनके ऊपर वह पहाड़ पटक दिया। युधिष्ठि!! उस भयानक पर्वतके गिरनेसे देवसेनाके दस हजार योद्धा कुचलकर धरतीपर गिर पड़े
patatā tena giriṇā devasainyasya pārthiva | bhīmarūpeṇa nihatam ayutaṃ prāpatad bhuvi ||
Mārkaṇḍeya dijo: «Oh rey, cuando aquella montaña se desplomó con estruendo sobre el ejército de los dioses, diez mil de sus guerreros—abatidos por su masa aterradora—fueron aplastados y cayeron sobre la tierra».
