सरमा नाम या माता शुनां देवी जनाधिप । सापि गर्भान् समादत्ते मानुषीणां सदैव हि,नरेश्वर! कुत्तोंकी माता जो देवजातीय सरमा है, वह भी सदैव मानवीय स्त्रियोंके गर्भस्थ बालकोंका अपहरण करती रहती है
saramā nāma yā mātā śunāṃ devī janādhipa | sāpi garbhān samādatte mānuṣīṇāṃ sadaiva hi nareśvara ||
Mārkaṇḍeya dijo: «Oh señor de los hombres, Saramā—la madre divina de los perros—también, en verdad, arrebata sin cesar a los no nacidos de los vientres de las mujeres humanas». La afirmación encierra una advertencia moral: aun seres de origen divino pueden obrar con daño, y los gobernantes deben permanecer vigilantes ante fuentes ocultas y recurrentes de sufrimiento que quebrantan la protección debida a los vulnerables.
