Adhyāya 227: Duryodhana’s Deliberation and the Ghoṣa-yātrā Pretext

Dvaita-vana

Educational Q&A

Divine attributes and symbols are not mere ornamentation; when aligned with lokahita (the common good), they become ethically meaningful supports for righteous action. The verse highlights legitimizing power and authority through service to the world rather than personal display.

Mārkaṇḍeya explains that Viśvāmitra affirmed and justified Kumāra/Skanda’s distinctive features and choices—his six-faced form, the rooster emblem, the acceptance of the divine Śakti, and the selection of attendants—as necessary for the world’s welfare, which made Viśvāmitra especially dear to Skanda.
