पत्नीसरूपतां कृत्वा कामयामास पावकम् | दिव्यरूपमरुन्धत्या: कर्तु न शकितं तया
patnīsarūpatāṁ kṛtvā kāmayāmāsa pāvakam | divyarūpam aruṇdhatyāḥ kartuṁ na śakitaṁ tayā ||
Dijo Mārkaṇḍeya: Tomando las formas de las esposas de los sabios, ella deseó unirse a Agni. Pero no pudo asumir la figura divina de Arundhatī, pues la austeridad de Arundhatī y su fiel servicio al esposo hacían inalcanzable tal forma. Por ello, sólo seis veces logró recibir y depositar allí la simiente de Agni—quedando Arundhatī, por la fuerza de su dharma, más allá de toda imitación.
