The verse emphasizes ritual precedence and sacred order: Agni is honored first in sacrifice with the initial ghee-offering, and this primacy is mirrored in a mythic genealogy by naming Bharadvāja as Agni’s ‘first-born’—linking correct worship (vidhi) with cosmic hierarchy.
Mārkaṇḍeya is describing a tradition about sacrificial practice and the lineage/names associated with Agni. He identifies the Agni who receives the first ājya-offering in an adhvara and states that Bharadvāja is regarded as that Agni’s first son.
