Adhyāya 22: Śālva’s Weapon-Shower, Dāruka’s Wounding, and the Māyā-Report of Vasudeva’s Father
अभिवाद्य महाबाहुर्धर्मराजं युधिष्ठिरम् । राज्ञा मूर्थन्युपाप्रातो भीमेन च महाभुज:,महाबाहु श्रीकृष्णने धर्मराज युधिष्ठिरको प्रणाम किया। राजा युधिष्ठिर तथा भीमने बड़ी-बड़ी भुजाओंवाले श्रीकृष्णका सिर सूँघा
abhivādya mahābāhur dharmarājaṁ yudhiṣṭhiram | rājñā mūrdhny upāprāto bhīmena ca mahābhujaḥ ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: El de poderosos brazos saludó con reverencia a Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira. Entonces el rey Yudhiṣṭhira y Bhīma, en afectuoso reconocimiento, tocaron y olieron su cabeza: un gesto íntimo de honor y calidez familiar.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dhārmic conduct expressed through respectful greeting (abhivāda) and affectionate honor within family and allies. Ethical strength is shown not only in deeds but also in courteous, loving recognition of virtue and relationship.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Śrī Kṛṣṇa respectfully salutes Yudhiṣṭhira. In response, Yudhiṣṭhira and Bhīma warmly honor Kṛṣṇa by touching/smelling his head, a traditional gesture of affection and esteem.
