Skanda’s Consecration as Devasenāpati
ज्ञात्वा प्रथमजं त॑ तु वह्लेराज्िरसं सुतम् । उपेत्य देवा: पप्रच्छु: कारणं तत्र भारत,भरतनन्दन! अंगिराको अग्निदेवका प्रथम पुत्र जानकर सब देवता उनके पास आये और इसका कारण पूछने लगे
jñātvā prathamajaṃ taṃ tu vahnēr āṅgirasaṃ sutam | upetya devāḥ papracchuḥ kāraṇaṃ tatra bhārata bharatanandana ||
Dijo Mārkaṇḍeya: Al reconocerlo como el primogénito de Agni—nacido en la estirpe de Aṅgiras—los dioses se acercaron a él y preguntaron: «¿Cuál es la causa de esto?» Oh Bhārata, oh deleite de los Bhāratas.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic value of seeking the true cause (kāraṇa) through respectful inquiry. Even divine beings do not presume; they approach and ask, implying that ethical action should be grounded in understanding rather than assumption.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that the gods, recognizing someone as Agni’s first-born son in the Aṅgirasa line, come to him and question the reason behind the situation at hand—setting up an explanation of the underlying cause.
