Skanda’s Consecration as Devasenāpati
अथ संचिन्तयामास भगवान् हव्यवाहन: । अन्योडग्निरिह लोकानां ब्रह्मुणा सम्प्रकल्पित:,तब भगवान् अग्निने यह सोचा--'हो-न-हो, ब्रह्माजीने इस जगत्के लिये किसी दूसरे अग्निदेवताका निर्माण कर लिया है'
atha sañcintayāmāsa bhagavān havyavāhanaḥ | anyo 'gnir iha lokānāṃ brahmaṇā samprakalpitaḥ ||
Entonces el bienaventurado Havyavāhana, el dios del Fuego, reflexionó para sí: «¿Acaso Brahmā ha designado aquí a otro Agni para los mundos?»
युधिछिर उवाच
Even divine powers operate within an ordained cosmic framework: authority and function are not merely personal might but depend on the creator’s sanction. The verse highlights humility before higher order and the idea that dharma is role-based and assigned.
Agni, encountering a situation that makes his presence or efficacy seem questioned, pauses and reflects that Brahmā may have instituted another Agni for the worlds—an internal moment of doubt that signals a shift or complication in the unfolding episode.
