Agni’s Withdrawal to the Forest and Identification with Āṅgirasa (अग्न्याङ्गिरस-इतिहासः)
The verse teaches that contempt for Brahmins—symbolizing contempt for dharma, learning, and sacred duty—leads to moral and practical downfall; adharma carries consequences, especially when directed at the righteous.
A Brahmin speaker cites Vātāpi as an example of a deeply wicked person whose fate is tied to his insulting treatment of Brahmins, using him as a cautionary illustration within the Vana Parva discourse.
