Educational Q&A

The passage emphasizes dharmic order: actions should be undertaken with proper authorization, and dangerous duties should be entrusted to a capable and virtuous person. The repeated “tathāstu” underscores consent, blessing, and disciplined acceptance of responsibility.

A royal sage prepares to go to the forest. The powerful sage Uttadaka grants permission for the king’s departure. Then Brihadashva entrusts his son to Uttadaka and instructs him to kill Dhundhuka, after which Brihadashva proceeds to the ascetic hermitage-forest.
