मार्कण्डेय उवाच एवं स छन््द्यमानस्तु वरेण हरिणा तदा
Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: evaṃ sa chandyamānas tu vareṇa hariṇā tadā
Mārkaṇḍeya dijo: «Así, en aquel momento, él—instigado y seducido por el don prometido por el ciervo—fue arrastrado hacia adelante, y su determinación tomó forma bajo el señuelo de la recompensa anunciada.»
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The line highlights how the promise of a reward (vara) can entice a person and redirect judgment; it implicitly cautions that dharma requires vigilance against being led by allure rather than discernment.
Mārkaṇḍeya continues the story, describing how a person is being coaxed at that moment by a deer through the offer of a boon, setting up the next action driven by that temptation.
