Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Agotado por el camino y vencido por el hambre y la sed, vio en cierta región una franja de bosque de azul oscuro, espesísima y cerrada.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how bodily suffering—fatigue, hunger, and thirst—can overwhelm a person, yet such trials often serve as the crucible in which perseverance and clarity of purpose are tested before the next decisive event.
During travel, the (contextual) protagonist becomes exhausted and distressed by hunger and thirst, and then notices an especially dense, dark-blue forest tract in a particular area, setting the stage for what follows in the chapter.
