Kuvalāśva’s Lineage and Uttaṅka’s Petition concerning Dhundhu (धुन्धु-प्रसङ्गः)
This line is a colophon rather than a didactic verse: its purpose is to mark textual boundaries—identifying the larger work (Mahābhārata), the book (Vana Parva), the internal section (Mārkaṇḍeya-related sub-parvan), and the specific episode (Maṇḍraka). The ethical value is indirect: it preserves the integrity of transmission and helps readers situate teachings within their narrative context.
The narrative portion has just concluded an episode referred to as the Maṇḍraka Upākhyāna within the Mārkaṇḍeya-related section of the Vana Parva. This sentence functions as an editorial/recensional closing formula announcing the end of the 192nd chapter.
