Indradyumna Upākhyāna: On Kīrti, Smṛti, and Restoration
म्लेच्छी भूतं जगत् सर्व भविष्यति न संशय: । हस्तो हस्तं परिमुषेद् युगान्ते समुपस्थिते,उस समय सारा जगत् म्लेच्छ हो जायगा--इसमें संशय नहीं। एक हाथ दूसरे हाथको लूटेगा--सगा भाई भी भाईके धनको हड़प लेगा
mlecchī bhūtaṃ jagat sarvaṃ bhaviṣyati na saṃśayaḥ | hasto hastaṃ parimuṣed yugānte samupasthite ||
Dijo Mārkaṇḍeya: «No hay duda de que el mundo entero se volverá como los mleccha: caerá en la barbarie y perderá la recta conducta. Cuando se acerque el fin de la era, una mano robará a otra; incluso un hermano arrebatará la riqueza de su hermano.»
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse warns that as the yuga declines, dharma erodes into social barbarization: trust collapses, greed dominates, and even natural bonds like brotherhood fail—highlighting the ethical necessity of self-restraint and protection of rightful property.
Mārkaṇḍeya is describing ominous future conditions at yugānta (the end of an age), portraying a world where people become ‘mleccha-like’ and mutual plunder becomes normal, even within families.
