Sarasvatī–Tārkṣya Saṃvāda: Agnihotra-vidhi, Dāna-phala, and Mokṣa-prasaṅga (सरस्वती–तार्क्ष्यसंवादः)
सर्वे देवै: समायान्ति स्वच्छन्देन नभस्तलम् | ततश्न पुनरायान्ति सर्वे स्वच्छन्दचारिण:,सभी स्वच्छन्दतापूर्वक आकाशमार्गसे उड़कर देवताओंसे मिलने जाते और स्वच्छन्दचारी होनेके कारण इच्छा होते ही पुनः वहाँसे लौट आते थे। वे अपनी इच्छा होनेपर ही मरते और इच्छाके अनुसार ही जीवित रहते थे। स्वतन्त्रतापूर्वक सर्वत्र विचरण करते थे। उनके मार्ममें बाधाएँ बहुत कम आती थीं। उन्हें कोई भय नहीं होता था। वे उपद्रवशून्य तथा पूर्णकाम थे
sarve devaiḥ samāyānti svacchandena nabhastalam | tataś ca punar āyānti sarve svacchandacāriṇaḥ ||
Dijo Mārkaṇḍeya: «Todos ellos, a voluntad, tomaban la senda del cielo y acudían a encontrarse con los dioses; y luego, libres en su andar, regresaban de nuevo cuando así lo deseaban. Su vida se regía por la elección y no por la coacción: se movían por doquier sin trabas, hallaban pocos obstáculos, no eran tocados por el miedo, estaban libres de aflicción y colmados en sus deseos».
