Kailāsa-darśana, Badarī-vāsa, and Sarasvatī–Dvaitavana Transition
The verse highlights the inner vulnerability of a warrior: technical skill and numbers do not remove fear when one confronts overwhelming violence. It frames war as not only a physical contest but also an ethical and psychological trial that can unsettle even the righteous.
Arjuna speaks in the midst (or recollection) of a major battle, confessing that he is distressed and that intense fear has seized him, despite the enemy being well-trained and numerous and despite his own competence.
