एवं मे चरतस्तत्र सर्वयत्नेन शत्रुहन् । प्रीतिमानभवद् वीरो मातलि: शक्रसारथि:,राजन! तब मैंने उस रणभूमिने अस्त्र-शस्त्रधारी सैकड़ों तथा सहस्रों असुरोंको विचित्र एवं शीघ्रगामी बाणोंद्वारा मार गिराया। शत्रुदमन नरेश! इस प्रकार पूर्ण प्रयत्नपूर्वक युद्धमें विचरते हुए मेरे ऊपर इन्द्रसाराथि वीरवर मातलि बड़े प्रसन्न हुए
evaṁ me caratas tatra sarvayatnena śatruhan | prītimān abhavad vīro mātaliḥ śakrasārathiḥ ||
Dijo Arjuna: «Oh rey, mientras me movía por el campo de batalla, esforzándome con todas mis fuerzas por abatir a los enemigos, el heroico Mātali—auriga de Indra—quedó grandemente complacido conmigo».
अजुन उवाच
Wholehearted effort in one’s rightful duty—here, the warrior’s task of confronting enemies—wins the approval of the wise and the worthy; disciplined exertion is presented as a mark of valor and dharma.
Arjuna reports that while he was actively ranging across the battlefield and fighting with full effort, Mātali, the charioteer of Indra, was pleased with Arjuna’s performance and conduct in the combat.
