यथोक्तवांस्त्वां भगवान् शतक्रतुररिंदम । कृतप्रियस्त्वयास्मीति तस्य ते कि प्रियं कृतम्,'शत्रुदमन! तुमने जिस प्रकार देवराज इन्द्रका दर्शन किया है अथवा जैसे पिनाकधारी भगवान् शिवको देखा है, जिस प्रकार तुमने सब अस्त्रोंकी शिक्षा प्राप्त की है और जैसे तुम्हारेद्वारा देवाराधनका कार्य सम्पादित हुआ है, वह सब बताओ। भगवान् इन्द्रने अभी- अभी कहा था कि “अर्जुनने मेरा अत्यन्त प्रिय कार्य सम्पन्न किया है” सो वह उनका कौन- सा प्रिय कार्य था, जिसे तुमने सम्पन्न किया है

athokta-vāṁs tvāṁ bhagavān śatakratur ariṁdama |
kṛta-priyas tvayāsmīti tasya te ki priyaṁ kṛtam ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: «Oh subyugador de enemigos, el bienaventurado Śatakratu (Indra) te habló así y declaró: “Has hecho lo que me es querido”. ¿Qué fue, entonces, esa obra apreciada suya que tú llevaste a cabo?»
