Extraordinary power is portrayed as the fruit of disciplined effort and rightful service: Arjuna’s focused striving and completion of a valued duty lead to the bestowal of divine weapons and the recognition that such strength, when earned through merit and proper conduct, becomes nearly unsurpassable.
Vaiśampāyana reports to King Janamejaya that Arjuna has received all divine weapons from the speaker (in context, the celestial bestower) through concentrated effort, and that Arjuna has also accomplished a task pleasing to him; as a result, Arjuna is declared undefeatable in battle by any being across the three worlds.
