Indra’s Meeting with the Pāṇḍavas
पाण्डवाश्न महात्मान: प्रणम्य धनदं प्रभुम् । नकुल: सहदेवश्न धर्मपुत्रश्न धर्मवित्,धर्मज्ञ धर्मपुत्र युधिष्ठि, नकुल और सहदेव--ये महारथी महामना पाण्डव भगवान् कुबेरको प्रणाम करके अपनेको अपराधी-सा मानते हुए उन्हें सब ओरसे घेरकर हाथ जोड़े खड़े रहे
pāṇḍavāś ca mahātmānaḥ praṇamya dhanadaṃ prabhum | nakulaḥ sahadevaś ca dharmaputraś ca dharmavit ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Los Pāṇḍava de gran alma—Yudhiṣṭhira, conocedor del dharma, junto con Nakula y Sahadeva—se inclinaron ante Kubera, señor y dador de riquezas. Con las manos juntas, se reunieron a su alrededor con humilde reverencia, como si se supieran en falta, y aguardaron su mirada.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even the powerful should approach higher authority—especially divine or moral authority—with humility and self-scrutiny. Yudhiṣṭhira is marked as dharmavit, suggesting that true righteousness includes reverence, restraint, and readiness to acknowledge possible fault.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the Pāṇḍavas, led by Yudhiṣṭhira and accompanied by Nakula and Sahadeva, respectfully bow to Kubera (Dhanada). They stand with folded hands, surrounding him in a posture of deference, as if they have committed an offense and are awaiting his response.
