Arjuna’s Arrival and Reunion on the Sacred Mountain
तमापतत्तं वेगेन प्रभिन्नमिव वारणम् | वत्सदन्तैस्त्रिभि: पाश्वे भीमसेन: समार्दयत्,मदकी धारा बहानेवाले गजराजकी भाँति मणिमानको बड़े वेगसे आता देख भीमसेनने वत्सदन्त नामक तीन बाणोंद्वारा उनकी पसलीमें प्रहार किया
tam āpatattaṁ vegena prabhinnam iva vāraṇam | vatsadantaiḥ tribhiḥ pārśve bhīmasenaḥ samārdayat ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Al ver a Maṇimān abalanzarse a gran velocidad—como un elefante poderoso en celo—Bhīmasena lo hirió en el costado con tres flechas llamadas Vatsadanta, frenando su embestida en el fragor del combate.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights kṣātra-dharma in action: when confronted by a violent assault, a warrior responds with decisive, proportionate force and skill to neutralize the threat, using disciplined martial ability rather than panic.
Maṇimān charges at Bhīma with great momentum, compared to a musth elephant. Bhīma counters by shooting three Vatsadanta arrows into his flank, halting or weakening the charge.
