In a sacred hermitage one should practice inner discipline: renounce māna (pride) and krodha (anger), since these disturb dharma and obstruct receptivity to spiritual instruction.
Lomaśa, guiding the Pāṇḍavas during their forest sojourn, points out the radiant hermitage of the sage Sthūlaśiras and instructs Kaunteya (the Pāṇḍava addressed) to enter the place with humility and calm, leaving pride and anger behind.
