Adhyāya 136: Yavakrī–Bharadvāja Saṃvāda and the Bāladhī–Dhanuṣākṣa Gāthā
Arrogance, Boons, and Nimitta
A dhārmic listener seeks truthful, accurate narration (tattvataḥ, yathāvṛttam) and finds moral uplift in hearing the celebrated deeds (karmāṇi) of the virtuous—here, godlike sages—showing that śravaṇa (attentive listening) to exemplary lives nurtures ethical joy and discernment.
Yudhiṣṭhira requests that the preceding account be told fully and exactly as it occurred, and he expresses his deep pleasure in hearing the recitation of the actions and virtues of the devakalpa sages.
