समुद्रपानम् (Samudra-pānam) — Maitrāvaruṇi Drains the Ocean; Devas Seek a Means to Refill It

क्रोधात्‌ प्रवृद्ध;/ सहसा भास्करस्य नगोत्तम: | वचस्तवानतिक्रामन्‌ विन्ध्य: शैलो न वर्धते,पर्वतोंमें श्रेष्ठ विन्ध्य सूर्यदेवपर क्रोध करके जब सहसा बढ़ने लगा तब आपने ही उसे रोका था। आपकी आज्ञाका उल्लंघन न करते हुए विन्ध्यगिरि आज भी बढ़ नहीं रहा है

krodhāt pravṛddhaḥ sahasā bhāskarasya nagottamaḥ | vacas tavānatikrāman vindhyaḥ śailo na vardhate ||

Una vez, el Vindhya—el más excelso de los montes—se hinchó de pronto, airado contra el dios Sol. Pero, sin transgredir tu mandato, la cordillera Vindhya no continúa creciendo hasta el día de hoy.
